sloooow dowwwn.

after months of working like crazy and traveling.  Things are starting to slow down for the winter here.  Kind of caught in that transitional period between inspections and impending marketing and other odd jobs.  Today it is interesting.  I haven’t accomplished a whole lot (Perhaps you can tell by the fact that I’m writing on my blog).  It is just so strange to slow down so much.   My mind is on the move at the end of the week.

I worked so many days and weeks that exceeded 8/40 hours this summer.  Now it comes to days like this….can I leave early? I’m not sure.  Salary is so sticky sometimes.  The ethics of what you can and can’t do baffle me occasionally.  I’m not sure anyone would care, or even say anything if I did leave the office right now.  But there is that slight possibility of my boss bringing something along the lines of “where were you on such and such days?” during my annual review.  Probably Not.  So for now.  I sit at my desk and piddle away at menial tasks and other preparations.   I suppose one benefit to traveling so much would be that you don’t have anyone looking over your shoulder and you make your own hours.

The other issue I suppose is surfing the net and general time wastage at work.  I’m getting paid a fixed rate to accomplish the work set in front of me.  If I slack off and still get my work out faster than most do, is that ok?  Should I be researching, furthering myself, and seeking out opportunities for the company in addition to my allotted duties?  Probably.  Where does one find motivation for this however?

moving.

It’s Monday.  Jess and I are moving this week.  I’m glad to be moving somewhere new.  I presents me with a few disadvantages, however I’m still optimistic. I have Thursday and Friday off for Thanksgiving.  Also looking forward to sitting down with my ENTIRE family, including my new niece whom I haven’t met yet, for a Thanksgiving meal.  Good stuff.  Now if I can only just plow through the next three days here.  Work is in somewhat of a transitional period.  Inspections are weening off with the weather getting colder.  It’s definitely time for a change.  It’s Good.

MILES.

I’m sitting at my desk planning yet another trip.  I’m driving to Kentucky to inspect a large 12 building complex and then doing other claims scattered throughout the entire state of Illinois.  Gonna take 4 days.  I’m so sick of this.  I want to quit this job so bad.

Black Wave.

This goose is cooked, these tongues are tied,
Around the block, an airborne blight,
But looking on the brighter side,
There’s far less to which I’d be obliged,

In the meadow where the black breeze blows,
Where underneath the waves, you were most alone,
Can you hear a subtle, aching tone?
Through the water, through the Earth, chill the bones.

Looking on the brighter side,
Looking on the brighter side,
Looking on the brighter side,
Looking on the brighter side

sckhummy.

i’m really not a fan of northern Illinois.  Or Illinois in general.  Seems like there is a gooey film of nasty over everything.  I’m not sure what I would do If I ever had to move there.

so many choices..

Have you every really thought about just how many places there are to get a sandwich these days?  I mean, its crazy!  Options everywhere!

Subway - White lettuce anyone?  I always opt for the spinach here.  They seem to skimp on the meat a bit….unless you order tuna.   which is fish.  The tuna melt makes for a great post climb dinner to restore protein.  The five dollar footlong is good…unless you want chips and a drink (it starts to add up).  At least I can find a subway in pretty much every town I travel too.

Jimmy Johns - Fast.  Plenty of Meat.  Good Bread.  Only Cold Subs.  Hot summer day and I’m in a hurry -  I will pick Jimmy John’s every time.  When I haven’t eaten I will spring the few extra bucks for there “Gargantuan” sub.  Fills you up, crazy tasty…and they can deliver to your door.

Cousins - I like the fact that at most locations I can order fries with my sub.  Occasionally they run a 2 for 5 deal.  I usually get a ham and a tuna…for only 5 bucks.  When they aren’t running the deal, I will always get the peperoni melt.  Yum.

Quiznos - The first thing always said about this place is the price is so high.  It can be, true.  But have you tried the chicken carbonara?  This place beats out on taste every time.  They also have a special 88 sauce that is amazing.  Love it when I feel like spending a few more dollars.

Milios - Overpriced.  Not great.   Not good at all in fact.  Small subs?

Pick N’ Save’s “The BOSS” - Standing for Big Oversized Sub Sandwich.  You’d be hard pressed to find a better bargain than the BOSS.  This sandwich is huge and will leave up to 4 people content for lunch.  On saturdays you can score them in the deli department for a mere FIVE DOLLARS.  I pick one up when I grocery shop and it last me for 3 or 4 lunches.  You couldn’t buy the ingredients to makes this sub at home for 5 bucks.  As far as taste goes….you get what you pay for.  Every pick n’ save location seems to load on the mustard.  On the plus side….LOADS OF MEAT.

That is my two cents on the mainstream sandwich world.
